Job Description

Eunomia is seeking a few highly numerate candidates at or near the start of their environmental consultancy career to support our team of experts.

You will be involved in a range of tasks, which may include data gathering, quantitative analysis, using Eunomia’s existing models, or developing new models (whether in MS Excel or other tools such as R), technical report writing, contributing to bids, and preparing presentations for clients.

As a consultant with Eunomia, you will often be involved in multiple projects at once and the subject matter is likely to be varied. Although the focus for these roles is likely to be on topics in waste and resource management, your work may also touch on decarbonisation and the natural economy. Working alongside colleagues to deliver projects that meet clients’ needs, you will have the opportunity to learn from experts in the field and develop your skills quickly, gaining increasing responsibility and autonomy over time.

You will be flexible, with a strong work ethic and a high degree of motivation. You will be highly organised and share our commitment to a high quality of work, as well as being able to demonstrate a personal commitment to tackling environmental and sustainability issues.

Essential Criteria

  • Educated to degree level;
  • Excellent data analysis skills, including manipulating and cleansing data, statistical analysis and using data to explore scenarios or make predictions;
  • Proven organisational skills, working in a calm, logical way to deliver tasks efficiently;
  • A track record of applying creative, practical, common sense thinking to solve real-world problems
  • Fluent in spoken and written English;
  • Excellent all-round IT skills, including the use of Microsoft Office and especially MS Excel; and
  • A demonstrable commitment to continuous learning and improvement to achieve high standards.

Desirable Criteria

  • Good technical knowledge, ideally based on practical experience, in one or more of the following areas:
  • Waste collection systems or treatment infrastructure;
  • Resource efficiency and other sustainability issues for businesses;
  • Biodiversity, land use or natural capital;
  • Renewable energy and energy efficiency measures;
  • Carbon baselining and emission reduction strategy; or
  • Creating and using mathematical models to describe real-world problems;
  • Experience in PowerBI, Python, R, SQL, VBA and/or MS Azure;
  • Holding a post-graduate qualification, in a relevant discipline; and
  • A genuine desire to develop a career in environmental consultancy, ideally with prior experience working within the consultancy business model.

You must be eligible to work in the UK. Eunomia is unable to sponsor visa applications for staff at junior and trainee levels. Eunomia places high expectations on staff to learn quickly and deliver work that meets our clients’ needs. You will join a team of highly capable, highly committed colleagues from a range of academic and practical backgrounds, who will support your development, while expecting you to respond positively and demonstrate a high degree of motivation. You will have the opportunity to develop with us, learn quickly and make progress with your career.

Benefits

You will be part of a supportive and friendly values-led work environment, with continued professional development opportunities. A competitive salary with excellent benefits, including a nine-day fortnight, Private Healthcare [which includes dental and optical provision], Death in Service benefit, Group Pension, Income Protection Scheme (after completion of probationary period) and bicycle purchase scheme. 24 days holiday per year (plus Bank Holidays) rising by 1 day each year to a maximum of 30 days per year and the option to \”buy\” up to five more days annual leave. Eunomia also shuts down between Christmas and New Year. Staff who choose to take one day’s holiday during the period between these dates will receive two additional days of “free” holiday to enable them to take the whole week off work. All of us have a monthly wellbeing allowance and can take an additional two days leave a year for volunteering.
