Consultant Modeller – Circular Economy & Resources

We are seeking a Consultant to join our modelling team. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced analyst or modeller looking to take the next step in their consulting career.

As a Consultant, you will play a key role in delivering modelling, data analysis and evidence-based insights across a wide range of environmental and sustainability projects. Working alongside subject matter experts and senior consultants, you will contribute to project delivery from inception through to completion, helping clients make informed strategic, operational and investment decisions.

Projects are likely to focus on waste and resource management and the wider circular economy, applying quantitative analysis and modelling to questions around material and waste flows, markets, policy, infrastructure, products and supply chains. This could include waste collection and service modelling, material-flow and mass-balance analysis, market sizing and forecasting, policy and regulatory impact assessment, infrastructure capacity and investment analysis, cost and financial modelling, carbon and lifecycle assessment, and the assessment of circular economy interventions. You will be expected to manage substantial workstreams, contribute directly to client relationships and take increasing responsibility for project delivery and technical outputs.

This role is ideal for someone with strong quantitative skills, experience of analytical problem-solving and a desire to apply modelling expertise to real-world environmental, commercial and public policy challenges and help clients make robust, evidence-based decisions.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and deliver modelling and analytical workstreams across multiple projects.
• Develop, maintain and enhance robust quantitative models using Excel, however knowledge of VBA, Python, R, Power BI is highly desirable.
• Apply modelling techniques including material-flow and mass-balance analysis, forecasting, scenario analysis, market and policy modelling, cost and financial analysis and other quantitative approaches according to project needs.
• Analyse and combine complex datasets from government, industry, clients and other sources to identify trends, opportunities and risks, test assumptions and quantify impacts and translate findings into clear recommendations.
• Support project management activities, including planning of work, scheduling of delivery tasks, tracking of time pent against budget and delivery against deadlines.
• Prepare high-quality reports, technical papers, presentations and client-facing outputs.
• Present analytical findings to clients and stakeholders in a clear and accessible manner.
• Collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams across consultancy disciplines.
• Undertake research into emerging policy, market and technical developments and assess their implications using quantitative evidence and analysis.
• Support proposal and bid development activities, including methodology design and technical input.
• Build and maintain positive relationships with clients and project stakeholders.
• Provide guidance and support to junior analysts and modellers where appropriate.
• Ensure all work meets Eunomia's standards for technical excellence and quality assurance.

About You

• Experience working in consultancy, industry, government or research environments involving quantitative analysis and modelling.
• Ability to structure ambiguous analytical problems, identify appropriate data and assumptions, and develop proportionate modelling approaches where established models or complete datasets do not exist.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret complex data and communicate insights effectively.
• Demonstrable experience developing and using analytical, forecasting or scenario models.
• Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and workstreams simultaneously
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, including report writing and presentation skills.
• Ability to work independently while contributing positively within collaborative project teams.
• Experience engaging with clients or stakeholders and building professional relationships.
• Comfortable working in a dynamic consulting environment with changing priorities and deadlines.
• Passion for environmental sustainability and delivering positive societal outcomes.
• Degree qualification in a relevant discipline such as mathematics, economics, engineering, environmental science, data science, geography or similar.
• Strong quantitative analysis skills, including experience in some combination of data cleansing and manipulation, statistical analysis, forecasting and scenario modelling, material or mass-flow analysis, financial or economic modelling or other relevant quantitative techniques.
• Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel and wider Microsoft Office applications.
• Experience applying analytical techniques to support decision-making and solve real-world problems.
• Excellent written and spoken English.
• Proven ability to deliver high-quality work to deadlines.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality assurance.
• Knowledge or experience of one or more relevant areas such as circular economy, waste and resources, environmental policy, infrastructure, industrial sectors or sustainability strategy.
• Experience managing small projects or project workstreams.
• Experience mentoring or supporting junior team members.
• Previous experience in sustainability or management consultancy.
