Are you a proven production engineering leader with a passion for precision engineering and machine build? We are looking for a Production Engineering Manager to lead a skilled multi-disciplined workshop team, optimise manufacturing performance, and ensure our client's bespoke machinery is built to the highest standards of quality, safety, and efficiency.
The Opportunity
This is a hands-on management role at the heart of our client's production operation. You'll take ownership of day-to-day manufacturing activities across mechanical assembly, electrical wiring, and test processes - driving continuous improvement and ensuring on-time, high-quality build of complex electro-mechanical products. You'll combine strong technical expertise with leadership and planning skills, overseeing a small team of technicians and assemblers while working closely with Engineering, Procurement, and Quality to deliver production excellence.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and oversee the build, assembly, and test of machine systems to agreed deadlines.
- Provide hands-on production engineering support to resolve technical issues and optimise build methods.
- Plan and manage work flow, scheduling, and capacity using their ERP system.
- Drive process improvement initiatives to enhance productivity and reduce waste.
- Maintain impeccable Health & Safety standards across the workshop.
- Collaborate with Engineering to integrate design updates and continuous improvements.
- Champion quality, ensuring all products meet stringent company and customer requirements.
- Lead, mentor, and develop your team - promoting a culture of safety, accountability, and professional growth.
About You
- Degree or HND in Mechanical, Electrical, or Production Engineering (or equivalent experience).
- Proven experience in a production or manufacturing engineering role within machine build, automation, or precision engineering.
- Food machinery, packaging, machinery or any sort of automated production equipment would be ideal.
- Strong understanding of mechanical assemblies, electrical systems, and test procedures.
- Demonstrated leadership ability in managing small production teams.
- Practical problem-solving skills with a structured, analytical approach.
- Familiarity with ERP/MRP systems.
- Commitment to continuous improvement and lean manufacturing principles.
