ESCO Maritime Solutions are recruiting a Systems Engineer based in Loudwater, Buckinghamshire. Are you driven by the challenge of managing intricate systems and meticulous requirements? Key responsibilities
- Lifecycle Management: Planning and implementation of the appropriately tailored lifecycle model and manage all stages from concept to retirement. Plan and support design reviews encouraging concise recording of decisions and agreed actions.
- Requirements Engineering: Analyse stakeholder needs, define clear, feasible and traceable requirements, and ensure alignment throughout development. Collaborate with cross-functional teams and design engineers to elicit and elaborate requirements at all levels. Ensure requirements at all levels are validated and recorded as such, along with any associated assumptions and constraints.
- System Architecture & Design: Develop and communicate system architectures that are appropriate to the project and stakeholders, while ensuring traceability to requirements and design solution(s), integration of subsystems, and any applicable test configurations.
- Interface Management: Define and control internal and external system interfaces to maintain integrity.
- Technical Leadership: Lead cross-functional teams of domain specialists (software, mechanical, electrical) and coordinate technical outputs. Work closely with stakeholders, including customers, to prioritise and manage changes to requirements, tracking Technical Queries, while adapting to evolving project needs.
- Compliance & Standards: Ensure adherence of design and process to applicable regulations, safety standards, and industry best practices.
- Integration & Verification: Plan and execute system / subsystem integration, design verification and system qualification. Specify and facilitate system testing and qualification activities.
- System Validation: Plan and facilitate the formal recorded validation of system with the acceptance authority. Drive a culture of early and progressive acceptance. Maintain formal record of acceptance and traceability to concessions and recorded compliance statements.
- Support & Sustainability: Plan for in-service support, maintenance, and end-of-life disposal.
- Continuous Improvement: Proactively encourage, support and contribute to continuous improvement of business tools, process and people, particularly for Systems Engineering. Identify, formalise and promote local best practices into wider context. Offer critical feedback (CI) in a constructive and sensitive manner.
- Consistency & Cultural Alignment: Operate within company process framework and implement tools / practices with consistency. Seek guidance, feedback and support if required.
- Tools and Methodologies: Use requirements management tools and methodologies to organise, track, and maintain traceability throughout the project lifecycle. Ensure validity and accuracy of data while maintaining, import / export, configuration and change control.
Qualifications / skills required
- Experience in Information Assurance and good understanding of designing secure systems for the UK MoD.
- Bachelor’s degree in systems engineering, electrical engineering, or a related engineering fields.
- Proven experience in systems engineering and requirements management of complex systems.
- Proficiency with industry-leading requirements management tools and methodologies.
- Experience in handling of large data sets, integrity and configuration control.
- Strong analytical skills for validating and optimising requirements.
- Familiarity or experience in supporting of test definitions, planning and execution. This includes system and subsystem verification activities, integration and qualification.
- Proactive involvement in initiating verbal or face-to-face stakeholder engagement for resolving technical issues and managing expectations.
- Excellent written and verbal communication / collaboration skills.
- Experience of working in environments / organisations handling sensitive information and good security practices.
- High proficiency in data processing and data management IT systems / software including Ms Office suite (Ms Excel, Ms Word), Ms Outlook and Ms Teams.
- Familiarity or experience with electronic and electrical designs. Preferably implemented in defence and aerospace sector.
- Experience in planning, facilitating and conducting system / subsystem testing, integration and qualification testing.
- Experience in Integrated Logistics Support (ILS) activities for system design phases and in particular, experience in development of technical manuals and reliability engineering.
- Familiarity with industry standards and practices of systems and requirements engineering.
- Familiarity or experience in agile methodologies and tools including Atlassian Jira.
- Familiarity or experience in Jama Connect for requirements management.
- Experience in Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) implementation.
