Key responsibilities

  • Wire and assemble electrical components, control panels and looms in line with engineering drawings and build instructions.
  • Install cable looms and harnesses as required.
  • Carry out termination work (crimping, soldering, lacing) in line with company and customer standards.
  • Read and interpret detailed wiring diagrams, schematics, and electrical layout drawings.
  • Work with assorted connector types, trunking, conduit systems, and cable management solutions.
  • Perform functional, continuity, and insulation testing of completed assemblies using a bench test machine (Training will be given).
  • Maintain documentation and comply with all quality assurance requirements (e.g. MITP’s, Traveler Doc, FAIRs, and QARs).
  • Work to IPC620, internal build standards.
  • Work in compliance with all Site, health & safety, environmental, and security protocols.

Qualifications / skills required

  • Experience as a Wirer in a similarly regulated environment.
  • Familiar with MOD, IPC-620, or DEF-STAN wiring practices.
  • Able to work with tight tolerances and detailed electrical instructions.
  • Competent in the use of hand tools, test meters, and work documentation.
  • Capable of working individually or as part of a modular team on complex builds.
  • Excellent attention to detail and commitment to delivering quality work.
  • NVQ Level 2/3 in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
  • IPC-620 Certified.
  • Previous experience working within Aero / Defence contracts/projects.
  • Good knowledge of lean manufacturing processes and 5S practices.

Additional Information

Some projects may involve shift work and overtime and travel within the UK. Note: All candidates must meet the security vetting requirements relevant to the role. For reasons of national security, applicants must be British nationals. Dual nationals may be permitted in exceptional circumstances.
