We have been appointed to identify an experienced
Salesforce Developer & Functional Architect to join the Technology function on a maternity cover basis .
This is a hands-on role combining
Salesforce architecture, functional design, configuration, development and administration .
You will act as the bridge between business stakeholders and technology teams, taking ownership of solutions from initial requirements and design through to build, testing, deployment and ongoing support.
The successful candidate will be comfortable operating at both a strategic and hands-on level, with the ability to translate complex business requirements into scalable, user-focused Salesforce solutions.
The Role
As a
Salesforce Developer & Functional Architect , you will be responsible for defining, designing and delivering end-to-end Salesforce solutions, while remaining directly involved in platform configuration and development.
You will work closely with business stakeholders, technology teams and external partners to ensure Salesforce capabilities are effectively aligned to business objectives and delivered to a high standard.
Key Responsibilities
- Define end-to-end Salesforce functional solutions aligned with business objectives.
- Design scalable data models, business processes and user journeys.
- Ensure solutions adhere to Salesforce best practices and wider enterprise architecture standards.
- Translate business requirements into high-level solution designs and functional specifications.
- Hands-On Configuration & Build
- Configure Salesforce components including objects, fields and relationships.
- Build automation using Flows, validation rules and approval processes.
- Implement security models including profiles, permission sets and sharing rules.
- Develop reports and dashboards to meet business requirements.
- Remain hands-on throughout the build process, ensuring solutions are practical, optimised and maintainable.
- Manage data requests, including data uploads, cleansing and maintenance.
- Create and maintain reports and dashboards.
- Assist with user management, access requests and system administration.
- Respond to ad-hoc business requirements and provide timely operational support.
- Stakeholder Engagement & Requirements
- Lead workshops and discovery sessions with business stakeholders.
- Gather, analyse and document business requirements.
- Translate requirements into user stories with clear acceptance criteria.
- Act as a trusted Salesforce advisor, providing guidance on platform capabilities and limitations.
- Manage relationships with external vendors and implementation partners.
- Provide functional direction and oversight to third-party teams.
- Review vendor deliverables to ensure quality and alignment with agreed standards.
- Monitor vendor performance against scope, timelines and SLAs.
- Act as the key functional liaison between internal stakeholders and external partners.
- Governance & Best Practice
- Establish and maintain Salesforce design and configuration standards.
- Ensure solutions are scalable, secure and aligned with longer-term technology strategy.
- Maintain appropriate documentation and promote consistency across implementations.
- Identify and mitigate risks, technical debt and design gaps.
- Support the full delivery lifecycle, including build, SIT, UAT and deployment.
- Ensure solutions meet business requirements and quality standards before release.
- Provide post-go-live support and drive continuous improvement.
- Troubleshoot issues and deliver enhancements where required.
- Undertake other reasonable duties in support of the wider Technology function.
Essential Experience & Skills
We are looking for someone with a strong combination of Salesforce functional, development, architecture and administration experience.
You should have
- Proven experience working across the Salesforce ecosystem in functional, development, administration and solution delivery capacities.
- Strong hands-on experience configuring Salesforce, including objects, fields, relationships, Flows, validation rules and security models.
- Solid understanding of Salesforce data modelling, security and reporting.
- Experience translating business requirements into functional designs, user stories and scalable Salesforce solutions.
- Strong stakeholder engagement and workshop facilitation skills.
- Hands-on Salesforce administration experience, including data loads, cleansing, maintenance, reporting, dashboards and user access.
- Experience delivering solutions across the full lifecycle from design and build through to testing, deployment and support.
- Strong understanding of Salesforce best practices and governance.
- Experience working within Agile delivery environments.
- Excellent problem-solving, communication and interpersonal skills.
- The ability to balance architectural responsibility with hands-on delivery.
- Experience managing vendors, system integrators or implementation partners.
- Familiarity with Salesforce development, including
Apex, triggers and Lightning Web Components (LWC) .
- Previous experience operating as a Functional Developer, Lead Developer or Salesforce Architect.
- Experience working with complex integrations.
- Knowledge of release management and Dev Ops processes.
- Experience mentoring or leading junior team members.
- Experience within
Financial Services or another highly regulated industry .
- Salesforce certifications such as Administrator, Advanced Administrator, Business Analyst or Sales/Service Cloud Consultant.
- Experience driving Salesforce adoption and supporting change management initiatives.
