As part of continued growth and a commitment to robust credit management, we are seeking an experienced Debt Recoveries & Collections Manager to join their team. This is a key hire for the business and will play a pivotal role in managing recovery strategies across a complex mortgage book, engaging with legal partners, and ensuring full regulatory compliance.
The Role:
As Debt Recoveries & Collections Manager, you will be responsible for leading and executing recovery activities across delinquent mortgage and buy-to-let accounts. You will work closely with solicitors, asset managers, and internal stakeholders to ensure recoveries are handled professionally, efficiently, and in line with regulatory standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage a portfolio of distressed mortgage and buy-to-let cases through the full recovery lifecycle.
- Instruct and liaise with solicitors and third-party service providers, including receivers and asset managers.
- Ensure full adherence to regulatory requirements (including FCA, PRA, and GDPR) and internal compliance policies.
- Support litigation and enforcement action where appropriate, maintaining accurate documentation and case progression.
- Produce and analyse MI reports to track performance, trends, and case outcomes.
- Provide insights and recommendations to senior management on portfolio risk and recovery strategies.
- Work collaboratively with Risk, Credit, and Legal teams on complex or sensitive matters.
Ideal Candidate Profile:
- Demonstrable experience in debt recoveries and collections, ideally within the private banking, mortgage lending, or buy-to-let space.
- Strong working knowledge of UK legal and regulatory frameworks relating to debt recovery, repossession, and litigation.
- Confident managing solicitor relationships and comfortable overseeing legal processes.
- Commercially astute with the ability to balance client care and business outcomes.
- Exceptional attention to detail, organisational skills, and a proactive mindset.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
