Eton College has an exciting opportunity for six Graduate Teachers to join the College on a two- year fixed term contract starting in September 2027. There are six places each year and subject availability varies. This year, we are able to support Graduate Teachers in the following departments: Chemistry, Computer Science, Design, Divinity, English, Geography, Mathematics and Physics.

We are looking for an enthusiastic Geography Graduate who will be excited to be part of a dynamic and successful academic department and embrace life in our boarding community. Our Geography department prides itself on its friendly and supportive atmosphere and its open-door culture, with regular sharing of ideas, enthusiasm and expertise. There are currently 10 members of the department, with a broad mix of subject specialisms and teaching contributions. The department is embracing the developing use of technology in the classroom, amongst other initiatives in teaching and learning, and contributes significantly to our Partnership programme.

All pupils take Geography in Year 9, during which fundamental topics such as resource management and climate change are studied. About half the year group continue with Geography for GCSE (AQA 8035). In 2019, 79% of candidates were awarded grade 9 or 8. We currently have almost 100 pupils studying Geography in the sixth form (CAIE International A-Level 9696). Degree courses in Geography and related subjects are popular amongst pupils.

Classroom learning is also enhanced by a culture that promotes independent research and investigation beyond the syllabus. Several thriving geography related societies attract a diverse range of inspiring speakers. We offer our pupils an exciting range of field trips, including day and residential, compulsory and optional, in the UK and abroad.

The depth of experience and expertise within our Geography department means that we are well equipped and excited to be developing and supporting recent graduates into the profession.
