Eton Bridge Partners is working in partnership with a FTSE 100 organisation to appoint a Head of Tax. This is a senior leadership role for a tax professional who is excited by building and evolving a function rather than maintaining a steady‑state operation. The role offers the opportunity to modernise the company’s tax function, introduce improved ways of working and play a key role in supporting the organisation’s strategic objectives.

Reporting to the CFO, you will have E2E responsibility for the company’s tax strategy, governance, compliance and risk management, acting as the principal tax advisor to senior leadership.

The Role
  • Leading the development and implementation of the company’s tax strategy, aligned to wider business goals.
  • Advising the CFO and senior leadership on the tax implications of strategic decisions, including acquisitions, restructurings and other major transactions.
  • Taking full accountability for compliance across all direct and indirect taxes, including corporation tax, VAT and employment taxes.
  • Establishing and maintaining a robust tax governance and control framework, including oversight of audits, risk management and HMRC interactions.
  • Overseeing all tax reporting and disclosures, including tax provisions, forecasting and support to Group auditors.
  • Driving improvements to tax processes, systems and ways of working, using technology to increase efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Determining the optimal balance between in‑house delivery and external advisory support.
  • Leading, mentoring and developing the tax team while partnering closely with Finance, Legal, Treasury and IT.
About You
  • CTA and/or ACA qualified (or equivalent).
  • Proven experience leading or significantly shaping a tax function within a large or complex organisation.
  • Experience in a listed environment is desirable but not essential.
  • Commercially minded, proactive and comfortable operating in a senior leadership environment.
  • A strong communicator with the confidence to challenge, influence and partner across the business.
  • Energised by change, with a track record of improving processes, introducing new ways of working and building high‑performing teams.
