The Opportunity

We are working with a private equity-backed services group to appoint a Managing Director for two of its core operational businesses. This is a high-impact executive role with full P&L ownership, leading multi-site physical operations and a workforce of several hundred skilled tradespeople across the UK.

The group is scaling rapidly, with ambitious growth targets and a strong emphasis on technology. Proprietary platforms, AI-driven diagnostics, and cloud-based systems underpin its operating model, enabling smarter service delivery and enhanced customer outcomes. You will work closely with the CEO and executive team to drive performance, expand footprint, and unlock new revenue streams through innovation, strategic partnerships, and operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead two businesses to deliver financial and operational targets
  • Own strategy, budgets, and performance across multiple sites and a team of skilled tradespeople.
  • Drive operational excellence through process improvement and data-led decision-making
  • Expand footprint through organic growth and acquisitions
  • Leverage technology platforms to enhance efficiency and customer experience
  • Build strong supplier relationships and champion sustainability
  • Embed a customer-first culture and ensure compliance with HSE standards
  • Collaborate with Group functions to support business objectives
  • Develop talent and succession plans

About You

We\'re looking for a strategic, commercially astute leader with deep operational experience in multi-site environments. You will bring:

  • Substantial senior leadership experience in sectors such as but not exclusively manufacturing, logistics, automotive, retail.
  • Proven track record of delivering growth, efficiency, and customer satisfaction
  • Strong understanding of P&L ownership, budgeting, and performance reporting
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills
  • A visible, hands-on leadership style with the ability to inspire teams
  • Comfort working in a fast-paced, private equity-backed environment
  • A mindset for innovation and continuous improvement, especially using technology and data-driven solutions

Compensation:
£150k + package and potential equity element

Location:
Hybrid with regular site visits across the UK, Midlands-based would work well.
