Role Overview:

We are seeking a proactive and commercially driven Buyer to support procurement activities within a fast‑paced electronics manufacturing environment. This role is responsible for sourcing, negotiating, and managing the supply of electronic components, materials, and services to ensure production continuity, cost efficiency, and quality standards. The Buyer will collaborate closely with engineering, production, quality, and suppliers to drive effective purchasing strategies and maintain a resilient, high‑performing supply chain.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Source and procure electronic components (e.g., semiconductors, PCBs, connectors, passive components) in line with production requirements.
  • Manage end‑to‑end purchasing processes, including RFQs, order placement, and delivery tracking.
  • Identify and onboard new suppliers to improve cost, quality, or lead times.
  • Maintain approved vendor lists and ensure supplier compliance with business standards.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers.
  • Monitor supplier performance (delivery, quality, cost) and drive continuous improvement.
  • Resolve supply issues, including shortages, delays, and quality concerns.
  • Conduct regular supplier reviews and support contract negotiations.
  • Negotiate pricing, payment terms, and delivery schedules with suppliers.
  • Identify cost reduction opportunities (e.g., alternative sourcing, bulk purchasing, value engineering).
  • Work closely with planning and production teams to ensure material availability.
  • Manage stock levels to balance availability with working capital targets.
  • Monitor MRP signals and adjust purchasing activity accordingly.
  • Expedite orders where necessary to meet changing production demands.
  • Identify supply chain risks (e.g., component obsolescence, geopolitical risks, shortages) and develop mitigation strategies.
  • Support business continuity planning by maintaining dual sourcing where possible.
  • Stay informed on global electronics supply chain trends.
  • Maintain accurate purchasing data within ERP/MRP systems.
  • Track and report on KPIs such as OTIF, inventory turns, and cost savings.
  • Support audits and compliance requirements.

Desired Skills, Qualifications and Experience:

  • Experience within electronics or a technical manufacturing environment.
  • Knowledge of PCB assembly, SMT, or component lifecycle management.
  • Exposure to global supply chains and international sourcing.
  • Progress towards or interest in CIPS qualification.
  • Experience supporting cost reduction or continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Familiarity with supplier performance management and review processes.
  • Understanding of supply chain risk management (e.g. obsolescence, dual sourcing).
  • Confidence analysing data to support decision‑making.
  • Experience working in a scaling or fast‑growth business environment.

Location:

This role requires you to work on‑site at our modern manufacturing facility in Hook, 3 minutes off junction 5 of the M3. Before applying, please make sure you can commute to Unit 4, Bartley Point, Osborn Way, Hook RG27 9GX.
