An exciting opportunity is available for a skilled and motivated Vehicle Technician to join a busy and diverse engineering workshop in South-East London. This role involves working with a wide range of vehicles including minibuses, vans, and cars, carrying out servicing, repairs, diagnostics, and MOT preparation. This position is ideal for someone who takes pride in high-quality workmanship, values safety and compliance, and is keen to develop their skills within the transport and automotive sector.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform routine vehicle safety inspections, servicing, maintenance, and repairs in line with DVSA standards.
- Carry out diagnostics and prepare vehicles for MOT testing.
- Respond to vehicle breakdowns when required and complete practical roadside repairs.
- Liaise with workshop and operations teams to ensure vehicle handovers and transfers are managed safely.
- Use tablets/PDAs for defect reporting, service sheets, and compliance documentation.
- Identify and report non-fair wear and tear damage for recharge purposes.
- Ensure a safe working environment by following all health & safety procedures.
- Road test vehicles after service or repair to ensure they are safe and ready for operation.
- Diagnose and repair electrical system faults and understand hydraulic systems.
What You’ll Need:
- Qualified and experienced in motor vehicle mechanics (bus or commercial vehicle experience is a plus but not essential).
- A full UK driving licence is required.
- D1 or D category licence preferred or willingness to complete D1 training (terms apply).
