We're helping a leading, early-stage stealth start-up building multi-agentic prediction software. Their mission is to predict human behaviour at scale. They're a small, nimble team looking for their Founding Product Platform Engineer to help lay the technical foundation for something extremely 'crazy'!

You will be instrumental in building the core product across frontend, backend, and data workflows. This means turning prototype scripts and one-off workflows into robust, reusable product systems. You'll build customer-facing interfaces for querying, exploring, and auditing AI-generated insights, and design clear product experiences for complex concepts like evidence, uncertainty, provenance, traces, predictions, and reports.

On the backend, you'll build APIs for customer workspaces, data ingestion, workflow execution, auth, and artifact retrieval, and design systems for storing source files, runs, outputs, traces, reports, evaluations, and provenance. Expect to create internal tools that make customer deployments faster and less manual, and own early deployment, observability, reliability, and security foundations.

You'll work closely with the Founding AI Engineer to productize AI workflows and with the founders to turn customer pain into product primitives, helping to define their engineering standards, architecture, and product culture.

How to prepare for a job interview at Ethos

Brush Up on Your Coding Skills

For a full-time software engineering role, it's crucial that we stay sharp with our coding abilities. Expect technical questions that might involve solving problems on the spot or discussing algorithms. Practise on platforms like LeetCode or HackerRank to get comfortable with the types of questions that often come up.

Know Your Tools and Frameworks

Make sure we’re well-acquainted with the tools and technologies listed in the job description. Familiarise ourselves with any specific frameworks or programming languages mentioned. If Ethos uses React or Node.js, for instance, be ready to discuss how we’ve used them in previous projects or coursework.

Showcase Your Projects

Bring along a portfolio that highlights our best work. This could be code samples, GitHub repositories, or any side projects we’ve built. Make sure we can talk through our thought process for each project, especially the challenges we faced and how we solved them—this shows our problem-solving skills in action.

Prepare for Behavioural Questions

While technical skills are key, full-time positions also require cultural fit. Be ready to discuss our previous experiences and how we handle teamwork, conflict, and deadlines. Brush up on the STAR method—Situation, Task, Action, Result—to clearly articulate our past experiences when discussing how we've contributed to a team.
