Job Description
We are currently working with an established and growing business in Milton Keynes to recruit a Financial Controller into a key leadership position.
This is a broad and influential role, taking responsibility for the day-to-day financial control and reporting of the business while leading and developing the finance team. Working closely with senior leadership, you will play an important role in ensuring the business has robust financial information, processes and controls to support its continued growth.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Leading the month-end and year-end close processes
- Ownership of monthly management accounts and financial reporting
- Ensuring the accuracy and integrity of the balance sheet
- Overseeing budgeting, forecasting and cash flow reporting
- Providing meaningful analysis and commentary on financial performance
- Maintaining and developing a strong financial control environment
- Managing statutory reporting, audit and compliance requirements
- Leading, supporting and developing the finance team
- Working closely with operational and commercial stakeholders across the business
- Identifying opportunities to improve financial processes, systems and reporting
- Supporting senior leadership with financial insight and decision-making
- Contributing to wider finance and business improvement projects
This opportunity would suit an experienced finance professional who is comfortable combining strong technical accounting with leadership and wider commercial exposure.
You will ideally be:
- Fully qualified through ACA, ACCA or CIMA
- Experienced in a Financial Controller, Finance Manager or similar senior finance position
- Strong across financial reporting, controls and month-end processes
- Experienced in managing and developing a finance team
- Comfortable working with senior stakeholders and challenging where appropriate
- Able to interpret financial information and communicate it clearly to non-finance colleagues
- Confident identifying and implementing improvements to processes, systems and controls
- Commercially aware with the ability to understand the wider drivers of business performance
