Currently recruiting for Team Leader Communication in Doncaster, working for the local authority.

Job Purpose

  • To develop and deliver a successful and efficient internal and external communications service, supporting the work of inclusive community engagement processes in order to widen participation. To deputise for the Engagement and Communications Service Manager on all Communications, Marketing, PR, and Digital Inclusion functions

Day To Day Duties

  • Keep abreast of internal communications and employee engagement trends and developments, source inspiration and expertise from a variety of sources and sectors to maintain an innovative and award-winning approach.
  • Proactively suggest and promote new and innovative ways of communicating with tenants, customers and stakeholders.
  • To contribute to the development of Communications and Marketing Policies and Procedures, including the Media and Design Protocol.
  • Support the delivery of actions in the Communications and Tenant Voice Strategies and other strategies, where communications play a part in their delivery.
  • Develop and deliver a forward looking and integrated communications plan and activities (including marketing, public relations, media management, stakeholder relations, internal communications and advertising).
  • To ensure that the workload of the team is distributed and organised on a daily basis ensuring that deadlines and key priorities are met.
  • To deal with media enquiries, ensuring that these are passed immediately to the Engagement and Communications Service Manager or the Head of Service/ Executive Management Team if the enquiry is urgent.
  • To be sensitive to any adverse or potentially adverse media reports to ensure that these are communicated to the appropriate staff.
  • To work closely and flexibly with the wider engagement and communications team to ensure that joint promotions are effectively delivered maintaining consistency with SLHD\’s corporate identity.
  • To assist with arrangements for SLHD\’s consultation and involvement processes ensuring that all the practical arrangements are in place where necessary.
  • To support neighbourhood initiatives, plans, community events and activities as required.

Qualifications – Essential

  • Industry recognised qualifications in communications/ marketing/PR (CIPR, CAM, CIM)/ journalism.
  • Experience of handling media enquiries.
  • Significant post qualification experience of working in a busy communications environment and dealing with conflicting priorities.
  • Experience of supervising staff across all Communications disciplines.
  • Experience of workload planning, distribution and monitoring
  • Experience of Budget monitoring.
  • Experience of dealing sensitively with a range of internal customers, clients and key stakeholders, responding promptly to requests
  • Experience of handling confidential and sensitive information in line with the Data Protection Act and organisational policies
  • Driving is an essential requirement of this role
  • Broad experience of working with ICT and digital channels
