As a Senior BMS/EPMS Engineer, you will bring strong technical knowledge of HVAC control applications, Building Management Systems and Electrical Power Management Systems within data centre, industrial, high-tech and mission-critical environments. Working within our Controls team, you will support the design, coordination and delivery of BMS/EPMS systems across consultancy, design and construction stages. You will work closely with clients, project teams, contractors, vendors and other stakeholders to ensure technical requirements are clearly understood, coordinated and delivered to a high standard. This role requires a detail-oriented, organised and self-motivated individual with experience across building automation, power monitoring, mechanical systems, electrical power distribution and the networking associated with BMS/EPMS systems.
Responsibilities
- Support the development and coordination of control engineering designs for new projects, including control strategies, specifications, drawings and technical documentation.
- Contribute to design reviews, quality checks, process control, product evaluation, vendor proposal reviews and reliability assessments.
- Provide input into automated testing, software coordination, research and development activities where required.
- Support engineering and operational processes relating to large-scale data centre and mission-critical environments.
- Coordinate with internal teams, clients, contractors, vendors and consultants to support delivery of project elements and resolve technical queries.
- Review technical submissions, drawings and documentation to ensure alignment with project requirements and Ethos standards.
- Monitor project milestones, identify risks or dependencies early and support on-time delivery of assigned deliverables.
- Support design, construction, commissioning and handover activities for BMS/EPMS systems.
- Work across multiple projects simultaneously, both independently and as part of a wider multidisciplinary team.
- Work closely with clients and subcontractors to provide technical support, guidance and clarification throughout the project lifecycle.
Experience & Qualifications
- Degree in Building Services Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical and Electronic Engineering, or a related discipline.
- 5+ years’ experience working in data centre, industrial, high-tech or mission-critical environments.
- Experience working across consultancy, design and construction stages involving BMS/EPMS systems.
- Strong interpersonal, communication and presentation skills, with the ability to communicate technical information clearly.
This role offers a hybrid working arrangement in Ireland, with attendance at the Dublin office as required by the team schedule.
Technical Skills
- Strong knowledge of Electrical Power Monitoring Systems (EPMS), Branch Circuit Monitoring Systems (BCMS), Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC), Building Automation Systems (BAS) and Building Management Systems (BMS).
- Technical understanding of mission-critical environments and the importance of resilient, reliable and maintainable systems.
- Knowledge of open BAS protocols and communications, including BACnet, LON, MODBUS, Ethernet, web services and HTML.
- Strong experience with building cooling and related mechanical systems, including HVAC, chilled water, DX refrigerant, evaporative systems and associated controls.
- Understanding of electrical power distribution, power monitoring, mechanical and electrical systems, schematics and system integration.
- Understanding of server platforms, virtualisation concepts, database design, data management, disaster recovery planning and risk assessment as they relate to BMS/EPMS systems.
- Ability to read and interpret drawings, blueprints, specifications, construction documents and technical information.
- Experience working on Design & Build and Design Bid Build project delivery models.
