About the role
We're recruiting an experienced HLTA or senior teaching assistant for class cover work at a community primary school in Walton on Thames. You'll provide classroom support and cover classes in the absence of the teacher, working from planned lessons and contributing to the school's day-to-day primary teaching provision.
Your role as an HLTA providing class coverage will include:
- Covering primary classes in the teacher's absence using planned lessons
- Delivering classroom teaching and learning support
- Behaviour management and classroom organisation
- Supporting pupils across different year groups and key stages
- Following teacher planning and school policies
- Building positive relationships with pupils and staff
- Contributing to the primary school's provision
You'll work flexibly across the school, providing classroom support and class coverage as needed. The work is varied across different year groups and phases of primary education.
About you
You're an experienced teaching assistant or HLTA with proven classroom experience and the confidence to cover classes independently. You might be an established HLTA, a senior teaching assistant with class coverage experience, or an experienced support worker ready to step into teaching assistant class coverage work. You bring:
- Strong classroom management and behaviour support skills
- Experience supporting primary pupils
- Reliability and professional communication
- Confidence working flexibly across different classes and year groups
- Genuine commitment to pupil progress
