Our client is a mid-sized organisation within a larger group/well-known brand, looking for a Data Architect. The client would ideally like the person to work 1-2 days per week in one of their offices across the UK, but are prepared to be flexible. A main aim of the role will be to align data architecture to business goals, enabling the insight necessary to sustain the company's growth ambitions. You'd work with an existing data team and other technical architects to deliver a cohesive architecture and be an integral part of the data practice.

Specific elements of the role will include:

  • Provide insightful leadership on data models
  • Design and implement effective data solutions to meet business requirements and realise the Data Strategy.
  • Ensure scalability, performance, and reliability of data systems and infrastructure.
  • Assess database implementation procedures to ensure compliance
  • Prepare accurate database design and architecture reports
  • Support the planning, impact analysis, and scheduling of migrations
  • Monitor system performance
  • Collaborate with the Digital teams and application teams
  • Stay informed about emerging data technologies and best practices.
  • Work with Procurement and the business to identify and select the most appropriate technology to meet data demands.
  • Recommend solutions to improve new and existing databases
  • Actively participate as a member of the Architectural Design Board.

Ideal skills & experience:

  • Experience as Data Architect, Scientist, Analyst, or similar
  • MS BI Stack expert including latest Azure data technologies, particularly Factory, Lake Storage, Databricks (particularly)
  • Hands-on experience of working in a Scrum environment, familiar with source control repositories such as GIT
  • In-depth understanding of database structure principles
  • Experience with the build and maintenance of a Lakehouse.
  • SQL, SPARK and Python
