How will you make an impact in this role?

The IC Governance & Control function sits within International Card Services (ICS), which comprises all issuing functions across our 28 international markets (excluding the U.S.). ICS colleagues operate across diverse geographies and disciplines, issuing products to both Consumer and Commercial customers. The organization is integral to the global growth strategy for American Express, with an ambition to drive significant value through the delivery of innovative products and robust operational controls that support sustainable, well‑managed growth.

We are seeking a motivated and detail‑oriented Process Mapping Manager to lead the documentation, analysis, and continuous improvement of business processes across the IC organization. This role supports the successful delivery of our Risk and Control Self-Assessment (RCSA) program by ensuring all key processes are fully mapped, risks and controls are accurately identified, and documentation meets enterprise standards and regulatory expectations. The Process Mapping Manager will partner closely with central RCSA teams, process owners, risk leads, and second‑line stakeholders to ensure timely completion of process mapping, high‑quality documentation, and strong process governance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead process mapping and documentation for end‑to‑end business processes within IC, ensuring compliance with enterprise standards and alignment with the RCSA framework.
  • Coordinate with process owners and subject matter experts (SMEs) to capture current‑state (as‑is) workflows and design improved (to‑be) processes.
  • Maintain a central process repository ensuring documentation is accurate, current, and version controlled.
  • Partner with Risk & Control teams to identify key process risks, controls, and ensure documentation supports RCSA.
  • Support the management of project timelines, milestones, and deliverables.
  • Support the coordination and facilitation of workshops and reviews to validate process maps, risk/control alignment, and ensure stakeholder sign‑off.
  • Identify process improvement opportunities, including automation, simplification, and standardization.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of process & RCSA execution.
  • Support training and communication to drive process governance adoption.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Significant experience in process mapping, process improvement, or operational risk management within financial services.
  • Understanding of risk and control frameworks, including control design, testing, and remediation.
  • Proficiency with process mapping tools (e.g., Visio, Signavio, Blueworks Live).
  • Proven project‑management and stakeholder‑management skills.
  • Analytical and problem‑solving abilities.
  • Strong communication and documentation skills.
  • Experience with Lean / Six Sigma methodologies.
