The Manager, Product Governance position is part of the Global Network Services (GNS) business within the Global Merchant & Network Services business group. The GNS business drives scale and relevance for the enterprise by bringing on and managing financial institutions that issue and/or acquire on the American Express network. The business manages American Express's presence in over 110 countries and territories through over 240 financial institution partners and is a driver of innovation for the company through the products and services it regularly introduces to the Network.

The GNS Product, Marketing and Global Businesses (PMGB) team is a dynamic global marketing organisation with responsibility to deliver:
- Product & Product Marketing: competitive product strategy and product & campaign delivery in GNS countries
- Partner & Customer Experience: infrastructure for value add and compliant experiences
- Brand Management: Protect and engage Amex Brand; increase Amex and GNS Brand awareness in GNS countries
- Global Businesses: Grow the GNS Supply Chain Solutions B2B business
The successful candidate will report to the VP, Central Marketing & Benefits and will work across GNS Marketing teams and key partner teams (Business Development, Compliance & Control Management) leading a range of product governance initiatives.
How will you make an impact in this role?
- Develop controls for Business Operations Policy (BOP) and a robust policy monitoring program to ensure ongoing compliance (throughout the Product & Marketing lifetime) with the BOP/AXP Policies
- Deploy risk and governance related training to colleagues and manage periodic refresh.
- Evolve PMGB frameworks, policies, and standards aligning with Enterprise risk standards
- Own PMGB governance. Uplift E2E procedures and systems, as required, to ensure effective and efficient management of global product and marketing activities
- Oversee operational risk events (OREs and corrective action plans (CAPs) related to product to ensure efficient and speedy resolution in line with policy and standards
- Own, support or manage other GNS Governance, Regulatory or Change Management Programs as required
- Build and maintain strong relationships across a range of stakeholder teams including Business Development, Regional Marketing, Control Management, and Network Policy team
- Become subject matter expert and champion the regulatory & control agenda across GNS UK
- Drive collaboration across the Enterprise (ICS/USCS) on compliance and regulatory activities
Minimum Qualifications
- Experience in audits, governance, risk management, controls, and/or payments industry expertise
- Proven ability to work autonomously and adjust quickly to shifting priorities, multiple demands, ambiguity, and rapid change
- Strong project management for delivering results in complex and highly matrixed organizations
- Problem solver and agile decision-maker with solid analytical skills
- Knowledge of AXP policies and procedures (e.g., AEMP54, PRSA, SOPs) preferred
- Understanding of governance concepts and programs, protocol and tools
- Analytical mindset: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a proactive approach to resolving issues and implementing process improvements
- Excellent interpersonal and collaboration skills
- Resilient team player with ability to influence and develop relationships with leaders, peers, and control and compliance teams
- Strong communication and presentation skills allowing for clear and appropriate messaging for multiple levels/audiences
- Effective time management skills and ability to balance priorities
