Commercial payment products for small and medium sized businesses are an integral part of the business strategy for Card Services UK, and the SME market segment remains a strong opportunity for outstanding growth. To support this goal, we require a Business Development Manager joining our SME Sales Team in Brighton. This is a telephone-based role (no face-to-face client interaction), specifically providing consultative dialogue to inform and close sales and increase American Express market wallet shares in the SME industry patterns. Candidates must have SME expertise and knowledge along with a proven track record of driving results in sales and extensive B2B cold-calling experience. Strong communication skills are critical. Success will be measured by the spend generated for the Card Members signed, profitable spend diversification, effective pipeline management, time management, ability to engage/motivate prospects and leadership skills. How will you make an impact in this role? The primary focus is contacting FD\’s, CFOs, CEOs and directors, or anyone who is a decision maker in the SME arena targeting UK companies with revenues from £1m to £50m, in relation to their business spend, and providing consultative dialogue to inform and close sales whilst explaining the benefits of our business and corporate suite of products to unlock profitable spend volume. Responsibilities: Make a number of calls to prospects daily whilst being responsible for the entire sales cycle building and managing own pipeline; from prospecting new companies via outbound activities, qualifying leads to opportunity level, closing sales, whilst delivering solutions tailored to each company you find. Win new business on a mix of warm and cold leads via increasing Cards market share by achieving and exceeding the Revenue Booked Charge Volume (RBCV) target steering spend diversification. Maintain high level of products and services knowledge including product features and benefits, competition in the financial services space, and relevant developments in target industries. Demonstrate the ability to collaborate and influence external customers. Work with internal teams to provide all relevant information to support Clients application journey. Achieve Premium products sales targets to steer bottom line growth. Enhance cross-selling opportunities and improve Partnership leads workability and conversion. Target the UK business prospect universe at 360 degrees to improve Amex market wallet shares. Stay updated on industry best practices, competitive landscape, and emerging trends to drive innovation and maintain a competitive edge. Adherence to sales policies, procedures, and compliance standards. Minimum Qualification: Previous sales experience in a B2B telesales environment and American Express Card Payments solutions knowledge and expertise are essential. Consultative selling experience and proven track-record of meeting and exceeding sales goals in a sales/cold calling environment with a strong focus on achieving both individual and team expectations. Demonstrated track record of managing lead pipeline through the sales cycle to drive the end to end sales process including articulating the benefits, application process and progressing the company through the required stages. Self-driven and results oriented with a positive outlook and a clear focus on over delivering on targets with high levels of initiative, self motivation and time management. Excellent oral and written communication, relationship building and problem solving abilities. Proven expertise of the SME industry pattern by identifying key decision makers and articulating the benefits of an Amex business card solution using strong communication and objection handling skills. Strong business acumen, entrepreneurial spirit, having the commercial flair and financial acumen in the B2B arena to understand the market and identify potential new clients. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and build strong internal and external relationships.
