Permanent position. Annual salary: £ 40,750.00 (inclusive shift allowance). Rotational Shifts 7am-3pm, 3pm-11pm Monday to Friday.

Ethero is recruiting for a dedicated Cell Leader (Shift Manager) to join one of the largest automotive manufacturers that continues to grow. This is an excellent opportunity to join an environment that is committed to development and success. The right candidate will be responsible for guiding and managing department associates to achieve specific goals, ensuring effective communication and providing support to team leaders.

Key responsibilities & duties:

  • Responsible for supervising, training, and supporting associates within their departments. Effectively communicating information to relevant management, stakeholders, and associates, championing continuous improvement and compliance within their area.
  • Leadership style stemming from a 'lead-by-example' approach in regard to matters of Health and Safety, operational procedures, and company policies.
  • Ownership and ability to address or escalate issues outside their responsibility when required.
  • Ensure team briefings happen every shift covering all issues including Health & Safety, Environment, Quality, 5s/TPM, absence, and targets.
  • Manage departmental HR issues such as absence management, performance, disciplinary & grievance, and development through the use of formal procedures.
  • Management of Associates hours through the Time & Attendance (T&A), organise additional working hours as required to complete tasks, subject to appropriate levels.
  • Coach and develop Team Leaders to ensure they are process experts and have the tools to train others.
  • Support quality systems audits.
  • Confirm effective transitions between shifts.
  • Ensure escalation procedures are working correctly.
  • Prioritise the operational output and any breakdowns that may occur to ensure smooth operational recovery and seek stakeholder support where required.
  • Promote Health, Safety, and Environmental awareness within the department. Ensuring safety requirements are understood, issued, and enforced.
  • Perform daily safety checks and regular safety audits, ensure that processes are safe, and the team understand/follow safety rules, processes, and procedures.
  • Compile and review Risk Assessments and Safe Systems of Work (SSoW) for all maintenance activities undertaken by their Associates taking into account all relevant environmental issues.
  • Responsible for ensuring all Lost Time, Minor, and Trivial accidents are investigated, reported, recorded, and actioned in line with Company procedures.
  • Ensure that COSHH and manual handling requirements are met.

Essential knowledge, skills and experience:

  • Previous Management Experience within Manufacturing.
  • Excellent written & verbal communication skills.
  • Minimum of 3 years managing people experience.
  • High level of numerical and analytical ability.
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite, especially Excel & PowerPoint.
  • Proven Presentation Skills.
  • Experience of Lean Management Techniques or Kaizen.
  • Proven ability at motivating, involving, and engaging Associates to deliver departmental objectives.
  • Team player.
  • Effective delegation and management of time.
  • Strong Health and Safety skillset and Risk Assessment trained.
