Role and key responsibilities for Transport clerk:

  • Preparation of drivers' documents including briefing and debriefing drivers.
  • Check all delivery documents to ensure correct delivery.
  • Assist in the daily production and preparation of daily statistics, KPIs, and various management reports as required.
  • Extract all required information from the driver's daily activity sheet and update the PC system.
  • Carry out general administration duties including filing, photocopying, tachograph reconciliation and data input.
  • Assistance in fleet administration, e.g. checking when vehicles are available for MOTs, services, tax etc.
  • Ensuring details on LGV licence renewals are maintained and medicals arranged when required.
  • Booking in and out of drivers and the allocation of loads and vehicles for drivers.
  • Ensure all stock is controlled and managed, with recorded movements in and out of the warehouse handling area.
  • Compliance with site accident reporting procedures.
  • Adherence to all Company, statutory and Health and Safety obligations.
  • To attend any relevant training sessions to ensure you are fully equipped to perform your role effectively and assist in the development of continuous improvement within the function and depot as a whole.
  • To undertake such other duties as may be reasonably required for effective operation of the Transport Department.

Minimum Requirements for Transport clerk:

  • Enthusiastic, flexible and highly organised individual, preferably with a proven track record in Transport.
  • Proven ability to convey facts and ideas accurately and effectively in both written and oral styles. A flexible communication style is required.
  • Ensure that all information is generated, logged and actioned efficiently and accurately to provide a support and information service to drivers, management and the customer.
  • Good interpersonal skills and the ability to influence and communicate with people at all levels, both internally and externally.
  • Ability to solve problems quickly and effectively.
  • PC literacy essential.

Pay rate: £12.21 per hour

Tuesday to Saturday 08:00 - 16:30 (Flexibility required to cover holidays)

This is a temporary, fixed term job for 3 months with the possibility to extend this to 6 months or more. This job is commutable from the following areas: Burton on Trent, Swadlincote, Lichfield.
