Role and key responsibilities for Revenue Assistant:
- Applying all changes to Council Tax and Business Rates accounts and authorising invoices raised by internal departments.
- Taking card payments using industry standard software.
- Maintaining an up to date knowledge of Council Tax, Business Rates and Sundry Debt legislation and internal procedures and processes, keeping fully appraised of relevant changes.
- Setting up direct debits and dealing with sensitive financial information in a confidential and secure manner.
- Dealing with billing exception reports and rebilling accounts as necessary.
- Assessing and raising refunds.
- Setting up payment arrangements and special payment arrangements in line with our internal processes, completing financial statements where necessary.
- Promoting online services to residents and assisting them in creating an account and linking this to their Council Tax or Business Rates account.
Minimum Requirements for Revenue Assistant:
- Knowledge of the Data Protection Act 2018, specifically around GDPR and the impact this has on the Revenues Service.
- Knowledge of Revenues billing and recovery statutory legislation.
- Experience of operating billing, recovery and invoicing systems.
- Excellent organisational skills.
- Ability to work to a high degree of accuracy.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
