The Role
Our client is seeking an experienced Engineering Team Leader to provide leadership, direction, and coaching to a shift engineering team. You will optimise engineering resources, drive continuous improvement, and ensure high standards in the maintenance of capital equipment, buildings, and utility services. This role combines team leadership with hands-on engineering responsibilities, including planned maintenance, fault finding, breakdown repairs, installations, and continuous improvement projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the shift engineering team across mechanical and electrical trades
- Ensure all engineering work is carried out safely and in accordance with health & safety legislation and site standards
- Complete hazard reports, walk and talks, POWRAs, and other safety documentation
- Conduct audits of workshop, jobs, toolbox talks, and lockers to maintain standards
- Coordinate engineering resources, liaising with the Maintenance Manager and Manufacturing Managers to prioritise work effectively
- Act as the engineering point of contact for the shift and attend relevant meetings
- Communicate with suppliers regarding plant or machine issues and manage contractors as required
- Record and close maintenance tasks using CMMS in a timely and accurate manner
- Identify and implement CI projects to improve plant performance
- Participate actively in annual overhaul planning
- Support investigations and reporting for accidents, product incidents, and DPER as required
Skills, Qualifications & Experience
- Completed a recognised craft apprenticeship, NVQ Level 3 or equivalent trade qualification
- Ideally qualified to HNC/HND level
- 18th Edition Wiring Regulations if electrically skilled
- Proven experience leading people in an FMCG or manufacturing environment
- Computer literate; experience with CMMS is desirable
- Knowledge of Continuous Improvement techniques is an advantage

- Successful delivery of projects and work to the required standard
- Compliance with statutory regulations and health & safety standards
