A global automotive component manufacturer with sites worldwide requires a Procurement Engineer to support the successful launch of tooling and related equipment. The ideal candidate will have an engineering background in tooling with experience in procurement.

Commutable from: Birmingham, Coventry, Solihull, Shirley, Redditch, Stratford Upon Avon

Salary: £60,000 - £63,000 p.a.

The Role:

  • Procurement: Source and procure tooling, fixtures, jigs, gauges, and associated equipment while managing suppliers, costs, budgets, contracts, and compliance.
  • Supplier Relationship Management: Build and manage supplier relationships, monitor performance against key metrics, drive continuous improvement, and mitigate supply risks.
  • New Product Introduction (NPI): Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify, source, and deliver tooling in line with new product launch and industrialisation timelines.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Work closely with internal stakeholders to understand business requirements, develop sourcing strategies, and communicate project progress, risks, and opportunities.
  • Continuous Improvement: Improve procurement processes, supplier performance, tooling lifecycle management, and digitalisation while contributing to procurement strategy and sharing market intelligence.

The Person:

Educated to a minimum of HNC level in a relevant discipline you will have the following experience:

  • Essential: Commercial experience managing complex tooling requirements, strong negotiation, commercial awareness, supplier relationship and performance management skills, cross-functional experience in manufacturing, strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, and proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
  • Desirable: Knowledge of manufacturing processes, product development cycles, NPI projects, strategic sourcing, category management, and Teamcenter Product Cost Management (TcPCM) for tooling and equipment costing.
