We are looking for a client-side Design Manager with maritime and civil engineering expertise to lead complex, multi-disciplinary design projects. Reporting to the Principal Design Manager, you will manage external framework design consultancies delivering the design through the RIBA Plan of Work, and ensure designs meet performance, safety, and regulatory requirements. You will coordinate technical direction and ensure high-quality, practical, and sustainable design outcomes.
What You’ll Do
- Lead the design process across RIBA stages for maritime and civil projects.
- Translate strategic project goals into detailed, buildable design solutions.
- Manage external design teams and ensure design quality and compliance.
- Integrate sustainability, energy efficiency, and carbon reduction into designs.
- Mentor and support junior members of the internal team.
About You
- Degree-qualified Engineer (Civil, Structural, or related field).
- Chartered or working towards chartership (ICE, IStructE, or similar).
- Experience across maritime, coastal, or port infrastructure projects preferred.
- Excellent knowledge of RIBA Plan of Work, Building Regulations, British Standards, and Eurocodes.
- Skilled in design coordination, problem-solving, and communicating complex concepts clearly.
