Regional Civil Engineering Contractor in Essex is seeking an experienced Contracts Manager to develop their career on Highway Schemes across London and the South.

As Contracts Manager, your duties and responsibilities will include:

  • Oversee all contractual obligations, ensuring compliance with NEC forms and regulatory requirements.
  • Manage multiple projects from pre-construction through to completion, including design coordination and site delivery.
  • Monitor budgets, forecasts, and risk registers; ensure profitability and cost control.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for clients, fostering long-term relationships and supporting business development.
  • Implement and monitor robust safety systems in line with company and statutory standards.
  • Mentor project managers and site teams, ensuring effective resource allocation and performance.
  • Participate in tender reviews, develop programmes and methodologies, and contribute to quality submissions.
  • Work closely with design teams to deliver integrated solutions for controlled environments.
  • Produce progress reports, chair meetings, and maintain accurate project documentation.

Knowledge / Education / Skills:

  • Proven experience in managing large-scale civil engineering contracts, ideally within frameworks or multi-project environments.
  • Strong knowledge of NEC contracts and commercial management principles.
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills to manage teams and liaise with clients, subcontractors, and stakeholders.
  • Ability to drive performance, ensure compliance, and deliver projects on time and within budget.
  • A background in Road’s infrastructure projects will be highly advantageous.
  • Relevant qualifications in civil engineering or construction management.
