We are seeking an experienced Principal Electrical Engineer to join a growing design engineering team delivering major Nuclear, Defence and Energy infrastructure projects across the UK. As part of significant growth and investment plans, this is additional headcount to a well-established team based from offices in Manchester (hybrid working in place).
Working in a multi-disciplinary team, this job role offers the opportunity to lead electrical design activities on complex projects from concept and feasibility studies through to detailed design and commissioning support. As a Chartered Electrical Engineer (or working towards chartership), you will provide technical leadership, mentor junior engineers, and work directly with clients to deliver safe, innovative, and compliant engineering solutions.
Key Responsibilities- Lead electrical engineering design
- Produce and review electrical calculations, specifications, reports and technical documentation
- Deliver power system studies, fault level calculations, protection grading and earthing assessments
- Specify HV and LV electrical equipment, transformers, UPS systems, motors and VFDs
- Support commissioning, procurement and DNO engagement activities
- Mentor and develop junior electrical engineers
- Ensure compliance with UK regulations, industry standards and nuclear requirements
- Significant experience as an Electrical Engineer within the Nuclear Energy sector
- Degree qualified in Electrical Engineering or related discipline
- Chartered Engineer (CEng/IEng) or progressing towards professional registration
- Strong knowledge of UK electrical standards, legislation and nuclear plant requirements
- Experience with power systems, electrical design and equipment specification
- Security Clearance, or ability to obtain clearance
