A well-established multi-disciplinary construction consultancy are currently recruiting a Clerk of Works to join their team. They provide a range of services including Project Management, Employer’s Agent and Client’s Representative services, Joint Venture Supervisor, Cost Consultancy, Quantity Surveying, Building Surveying and Clerk of Works services and cover a wide variety of sectors including commercial, retail, leisure, education, healthcare and residential projects up to £100M. They are now seeking an experienced and motivated Clerk of Works to oversee the quality and safety standards on residential construction projects.
Role & Responsibilities for the Clerk of Works:
- Conduct regular inspections of construction sites to monitor progress, quality, and adherence to specifications, building regulations, and health and safety standards.
- Ensure the work is carried out to the highest standard by reviewing materials, workmanship, and construction processes, and verifying compliance with the project documentation.
- Ensure that all works are in compliance with local building regulations, planning permission, and other statutory requirements.
- Produce detailed reports on the progress of work, identify any discrepancies, defects, or non-compliance issues, and provide recommendations for corrective actions.
- Coordinate with contractors, subcontractors, and consultants to resolve site issues and ensure smooth workflow and adherence to schedules.
- Maintain accurate records of inspections, non-compliance issues, remedial actions, and correspondence related to construction activities.
- Monitor site safety, ensuring that all activities are performed in compliance with relevant health and safety regulations.
- Identify and resolve issues related to design, construction, or quality in a timely manner.
- Maintain communication with clients, providing updates on project progress and any potential concerns related to construction quality or delays.
Skills & Experience of the Clerk of Works:
- HNC/HND in Construction, Building Studies, or a related field; or equivalent work experience.
- Strong understanding of building regulations, planning processes, construction techniques, and quality control procedures.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- In-depth knowledge of health and safety regulations within the construction industry.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, construction management software
- Practical experience on residential construction sites
