We are partnering with a well-established organisation with sites in Chelmsford and Southend to recruit an Azure Cloud Senior Infrastructure Engineer (Lead). This is a senior, hands-on role for an experienced engineer who enjoys leading from the front, tackling complex technical challenges, and shaping infrastructure standards across hybrid environments. You will act as the senior technical authority for infrastructure services, working across on-premises and cloud platforms to ensure services are secure, resilient, and fit for the future.
The role:
- Lead complex troubleshooting, major incidents and service recovery.
- Act as the senior technical authority for infrastructure.
- Shape and maintain technical standards, documentation and best practice.
- Mentor and support EUC, Infrastructure team.
- Ensure secure, reliable and well-integrated hybrid infrastructure services.
Key technical skills & experience:
- Design, build, and maintain Azure cloud platforms and landing zones.
- Deliver Azure infrastructure projects, including migrations, modernisation, and new platform builds.
- Azure, Entra ID (Azure AD) and Microsoft 365.
- Active Directory, Group Policy and domain services.
- Virtualisation technologies (VMware essential; Citrix exposure desirable).
- Solid networking knowledge, including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, routing, switching and Firewalls.
Technical leadership:
- Act as the senior technical escalation point for infrastructure services.
- Lead major incident response and complex problem resolution.
- Provide mentoring and technical guidance to engineering and service teams.
- Role-model secure engineering, strong documentation and operational excellence.
