Role Title: Data Engineer (Alation and Profisee)

Location: London EC2N 4BQ or Horsham RH12 1RD (3 Days office)

Duration: 05/02/2027

Pay Rate: £322 per day all inc. (PAYE through Umbrella)

Must have: strong Alation and Profisee implementation and MDM deployment

Role Description:

Role Summary

  • The Technical Tooling Lead will be responsible for the end-to-end delivery and rollout of Alation and Profisee.
  • The role combines programme leadership, delivery management, stakeholder engagement, and technical oversight to ensure successful implementation, adoption, and operationalisation of data management capabilities.
  • The individual will act as the primary point of coordination between business stakeholders, technology teams, vendors, and implementation partners.

Key Responsibilities

Delivery Leadership & Planning

  • Lead the planning, estimation, resourcing, and execution of Alation and Profisee implementation activities.
  • Develop and maintain delivery roadmaps, project plans, milestones, dependencies, and release schedules.
  • Ensure alignment of delivery activities with business objectives, governance requirements, and programme timelines.

Stakeholder Management & Governance

  • Act as the primary liaison between business stakeholders, data governance teams, technology teams, vendors, and implementation partners.
  • Facilitate workshops, steering committees, and governance forums to drive decision‑making and issue resolution.
  • Manage stakeholder expectations and ensure effective communication throughout the delivery lifecycle.

Agile Delivery Management

  • Lead Agile delivery teams, managing backlogs, sprint planning, prioritisation, dependency management, and delivery tracking.
  • Monitor progress against plans and proactively manage risks, issues, and impediments.
  • Ensure delivery outcomes meet agreed scope, quality, timeline, and budget objectives.

Reporting, Risk & Escalation Management

  • Produce regular status reports, dashboards, RAID logs, and executive-level updates.
  • Identify, assess, and manage delivery risks, issues, and dependencies.
  • Escalate critical decisions and blockers appropriately, ensuring timely resolution and mitigation.

Technical Oversight & Tool Enablement

  • Provide oversight of Alation and Profisee implementation activities, including platform configuration, metadata onboarding, MDM deployment, integration, testing, and go‑live planning.
  • Ensure adherence to architecture standards, implementation best practices, and operational readiness requirements.
  • Support transition to BAU teams, including knowledge transfer, support models, and service readiness planning.

Desired Skills & Experience

  • Proven experience leading complex technology or data management implementations in enterprise environments.
  • Experience managing cross-functional teams, vendors, and senior stakeholders.
  • Excellent planning, estimation, reporting, risk management, and communication skills.
  • Strong understanding of data governance, metadata management, master data management (MDM), and data quality concepts.
  • Experience leading the rollout or implementation of data management tools such as Alation, Profisee, Collibra, Informatica, Microsoft Purview, Ataccama, or similar platforms is highly desirable.
  • Familiarity with enterprise data architectures, cloud platforms, and data transformation programmes is advantageous.
