Pay Rate: £268 to 290 per day all inc. (PAYE through Umbrella)
Responsibility:Candidates with hands-on experience managing production & non-production SQL Server (2019) environments, including performance tuning, deployments, access control, and backup/recovery.
Must be comfortable handling ServiceNow requests, major incidents (RCA), collaborating with dev teams, and acting as a technical authority for SQL platforms.
Main Duties/Responsibilities of the Role:- Manage production and non-production SQL Server environments for critical business-facing applications.
- Perform daily checks to ensure database consistency & reliability.
- Proactively monitor, diagnose, and remediate database performance, availability, and reliability issues, including index maintenance, query optimisation, and server configuration.
- Installation & maintenance for MS SQL Server 2019.
- Release SQL code and schema updates.
- Manage user access and permissions to ensure data is only accessible to authorized users.
- Run ad-hoc SQL queries.
- Monitor the DBA ServiceNow queue and action requests as they come in.
- Implement and manage backup and recovery strategies to protect against data loss.
- Act as a senior technical authority for SQL Server platforms, providing guidance on architecture, performance, security, and operational best practices.
- Any other duties as required.
- To concisely report to the DBA manager regarding the progress of any work being undertaken.
- Collaborate with Development and other Technology teams to resolve issues and enhance TSQL queries and stored procedures.
- Lead database-related Major Incidents, including root cause analysis, post-incident reporting, and preventative remediation.
- Inform immediate management of any risks to our systems as soon as they become apparent.
