Overview

Job Title: Manufacturing Engineer

Location: Newcastle Upon Tyne, UK

Contract: 12 Months

Working Hours: 8 hours/day, 40 Hours/week

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Manufacturing Engineer to join our team. The ideal candidate will support the manufacturing engineering department to successfully implement and manage a bespoke manufacturing execution system, which collates and generates analysis information to drive continuous improvement. This role requires a strong understanding of data analysis, MS systems, process optimization, and demonstrable experience in Lean principles.

Responsibilities

  • Self-motivated and able to work independently.
  • Identify and work to their own priorities.
  • Be point of contact to resolve process issues on the shop floor regarding the data collection system.
  • Liaise with, and act as point of contact for the production department, regarding data collation and analysis, within the business – as a representative for Planning, Quality, Engineering, HSE etc.
  • Support downtime investigation and root cause analyses.
  • Lead and actively drive continuous improvement within the department, with regards to HSE, Quality and Productivity.
  • Responsible for ensuring all associated documentation is correct and available (Create and revise Procedures, Process and Quality records).
  • Responsible for ensuring all equipment is available for the process.
  • Able to lead, and work within, small multifunctional teams.
  • Facilitate problem solving workshops cross functionally.
  • Apply analytical skills to define Pareto, top offenders and sanitize data.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Be familiar with continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Be able to interface and communicate effectively with all levels of employees, management, and diverse audiences, including suppliers and internal/external customers.
  • Have proven attention to detail, with excellent analytical, critical thinking, problem solving, and personal organization skills.
  • Have proficiency in Microsoft Office applications — specifically MS Excel & SharePoint (PowerApp knowledge and experience would be advantageous).
