The Opportunity: We are seeking an experienced PowerServer Engineer to support audit, investigation, and strategic planning activities related to our existing PowerBuilder/PowerServer applications. The ideal candidate will assess current systems, identify gaps, and provide actionable recommendations for optimization, modernization, or migration.
Key Responsibilities- Perform comprehensive audit and assessment of existing PowerServer/PowerBuilder applications
- Conduct root cause analysis and investigations for performance, stability, and scalability issues
- Analyze application architecture, deployment setup, and integration workflows
- Identify technical risks, inefficiencies, and improvement opportunities
- Prepare detailed assessment reports, findings, and recommendations
- Collaborate with stakeholders to define modernization or migration strategy
- Create roadmaps and implementation plans for future upgrades or enhancements
- Provide guidance on best practices, security, and performance optimization
- Support decision-making through technical insights and feasibility analysis
- Strong experience with PowerBuilder and PowerServer
- Proven experience in application auditing, system analysis, or consulting roles
- Solid understanding of Client Server and web-based architectures
- Experience in performance tuning and troubleshooting
- Knowledge of database systems (SQL Server, Client, etc.)
- Ability to analyze Legacy systems and recommend modernization approaches
- Strong documentation and reporting skills
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical abilities
- Experience with application migration (on-prem to cloud or web)
- Familiarity with Appeon PowerServer
- Exposure to cloud platforms (Azure/AWS)
- Knowledge of security and compliance standards
- Prior consulting or advisory experience
