Lead Engineer - Permanent Opportunity
Location: Leeds, UK
Working Pattern: Hybrid - 3 days office/2 days home
About the Role
We are currently recruiting for an exciting Lead Engineer opportunity with a global engineering and technology organisation based in Leeds.
The successful candidate will play a key role within the Engineering function, leading projects from execution through to completion while working closely with internal teams, customers and other stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead engineering projects through the execution phase, coordinating multiple internal stakeholders and client requirements.
- Oversee projects ranging from $5M to $200M in value, typically delivered over 12-24 months.
- Take responsibility for top-level engineering design and technical documentation.
- Produce and review technical documentation including:
- Testing procedures
- Assembly drawings
- Design specifications
- Schematics
- Operating manuals
- Lead internal and external project design reviews.
- Provide regular project status and progress updates to Engineering Management.
- Support projects through build and testing phases.
- Review technical specifications and provide engineering guidance.
- Understand customer requirements and identify appropriate engineering/product solutions.
- Work collaboratively with engineering, project management, manufacturing and other functions.
- Ensure engineering activities comply with company processes, quality requirements and health & safety standards.
- Contribute to continuous improvement and the development of engineering solutions.
About You
We are looking for an experienced engineering professional with:
- A degree in Engineering or a suitable alternative qualification with relevant experience.
- Experience in engineering project delivery or project execution.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
- Experience working with internal and external customers/stakeholders.
- Ability to lead technical discussions and engineering design reviews.
- Strong organisational and project management skills.
- A proactive, adaptable and collaborative approach.
Desirable Technical Skills
Experience with some of the following would be advantageous:
- SAP/PLM systems
- Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint
- AutoCAD
- Inventor or other 3D CAD packages
- MathCAD
- Engineering design and documentation
- Testing, qualification and technical review processes
