Project commentary: The PRA Outsourcing project is a regulatory-driven initiative to ensure compliance with relevant standards. This SS outlines PRA\’s expectations for firms regarding outsourcing and third-party risk management.
The aims of this SS are to:
- Complement requirements on operational resilience, including PRA Rulebook SS1/21 and the Statement of Policy on operational resilience.
- Facilitate greater resilience and adoption of cloud and new technologies, as outlined in the Bank of England\’s response to the \’Future of Finance\’ report.
- Implement the EBA \’Guidelines on outsourcing arrangements\’ (EBA Outsourcing GL), clarifying PRA\’s expectations and expanding on chapters related to data security and business continuity.
This SS is relevant to:
- UK banks, building societies, and PRA-designated investment firms;
- Insurance and reinsurance firms and groups under Solvency II, including Lloyd\’s and managing agents;
