We are seeking a technically skilled and experienced individual to deliver high-quality technical support for science teaching. A degree in a science subject is desirable. You will be responsible for preparing apparatus, materials, and solutions; setting up and checking equipment for practical lessons, assessments, and examinations. The ideal candidate will be a proactive team player, highly organised, capable of multitasking, and equipped with a comprehensive range of science technician skills. A working knowledge of all three sciences (Biology, Chemistry, and Physics) is essential with an in-depth expertise in at least one discipline preferred.
As part of your role, you’ll be expected to actively support the College’s mission, vision, values, and strategic goals. You’ll help promote equality and diversity by working to eliminate discrimination across all protected characteristics, including sex, race, religion or belief, disability, sexual orientation, age, pregnancy and maternity, gender reassignment, and marriage or civil partnership status. We encourage all staff to take ownership of their professional development by participating in relevant internal and external training opportunities. You’ll also play a key role in upholding the College’s safeguarding policies and practices, ensuring a safe and inclusive environment for everyone. Health and safety responsibilities are an important part of the role, and you’ll be expected to follow the College’s policies closely. In addition, you’ll contribute to our ongoing commitment to quality and continuous improvement, and ensure that all data is handled securely and in line with the General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR).
As a Science Technician, you’ll play a key role in supporting the practical and technical delivery of science lessons in our specialist labs and classrooms. Working closely with teaching staff, you’ll help ensure students have the hands-on experience they need to develop their skills. Your responsibilities will include preparing materials, setting up and checking equipment for practical sessions, and making sure everything runs safely and smoothly. We’re looking for someone who’s organised, flexible, and confident working with young people. You should be a strong team player, able to multitask effectively, and bring a full range of technician skills to the role. Experience working in a laboratory or educational science environment would be advantageous although not essential.
