Attendance and Safeguarding Officer Required from asap

Part time (30 hrs per week) Term time only Permanent Salary Grade E point 13-19 (£29,064-£32,061 FTE per annum) £20,2698 - £22,359 Actual Salary per annum.

Robert Shaw Primary & Nursery School is seeking to appoint a dedicated, resilient and caring professional to provide support and guidance to our pupils to ensure they reach their full potential. The Attendance and Safeguarding Support Officer will work alongside key school staff and multi-agencies within the Local Authority to reduce the risk of harm to pupils and to improve their attendance. They will take a supporting role within Safeguarding processes at the school and a lead role in implementing the attendance procedures.

Key responsibilities:

  • Improve levels of attendance for all pupils
  • Reduce student absence and engage with families to support them in fulfilling their legal responsibilities
  • Promote a positive attendance and punctuality culture at the school
  • Play a vital role in the safeguarding of all pupils
  • Act as Designated Senior Person for the school, attending multi-agency meetings as required
  • Work with vulnerable children

You will:

  • Have knowledge of safeguarding procedures and protocols
  • Understand relevant policies/codes of practice and legislation in relation to education and child welfare/protection
  • Be able to identify barriers to learning for individual children and provide them with a range of strategies for overcoming these barriers
  • Work effectively with a range of partners including class teachers, SENCOs and senior leaders in order to address the needs of individual children
  • Be aware and comply with policies and procedures relating to child protection, health, safety and security, confidentiality and data protection, reporting all concerns to the appropriate person
