Purpose

As a Level 2 Teaching Partner at Charlton Wood Primary Academy, you will play a vital role in ensuring our pupils—particularly those with SEND—reach their full potential through high-quality, tailored support. Working across Early Years, KS1, and KS2, you will be the driving force behind successful small-group interventions and 1:1 sessions, helping children navigate challenging behaviours and meet their developmental milestones. Under the guidance of our SENCO and class teachers, you will create an inclusive and encouraging environment, whether you are delivering speech and language sessions, assisting with personal care, or facilitating social interaction on the playground.

Duties

  • Support individual and group learning by delivering high-quality, effective assistance to pupils across Early Years, KS1, and KS2, with a specific focus on those with SEND and EHCPs.
  • Deliver targeted interventions and speech and language sessions, providing incremental steps for success and working towards developmental milestones as directed by the SENCO and class teacher.
  • Manage challenging behaviour by offering empathetic guidance, providing positive feedback, and implementing the school’s behaviour policy to ensure children can access all areas of the curriculum.
  • Facilitate social development by encouraging interaction with peers in both the classroom and the playground, and providing emotional and social support to build children’s confidence.
  • Assist with personal and medical care, which includes supporting children with hygiene, intimate care, and changing, as well as carrying out specified medical care following required training.
  • Collaborate with professionals and parents, working alongside teaching staff and external agencies to implement and review individualised learning and intervention programmes.
  • Monitor and record pupil progress by assisting with assessment processes, keeping detailed records for identified children, and feeding back successes or areas for development to the class teacher.
  • Maintain a positive learning environment by organising equipment, setting up classroom technology, and displaying student work to create an effective and safe space for education.
  • Uphold safeguarding and professional standards by working in compliance with Trust policies, attending staff meetings and CPD, and acting as a professional role model in conduct and timekeeping.

We offer:

  • Enhanced CPD, including access to professional networks across the Trust
  • Paid induction and training suited to the role
  • Confidential access to an Employee Assistance Programme
  • Free parking
  • Use of the Cycle Scheme
  • Paid completion of a DBS check
  • Flu vaccination vouchers
  • Free eye tests (where the employee is desk-based)
  • Where eligible, automatic enrolment to the relevant pension scheme
  • Honouring of continuous service earned in the Local Authority
