Oxted School is seeking a motivated Cover Supervisor to join our supportive and dedicated team. The successful candidate will play a vital role in ensuring that students’ learning continues seamlessly in the absence of staff and will build positive relationships with students, supporting them to succeed. This is an exciting opportunity for a proactive and adaptable individual who enjoys working with young people and is eager to contribute to an ambitious school community.
32.5 hours per week/39 weeks per year
Key Responsibilities- To ensure continuity of high-quality teaching by supervising classes to complete cover work that has been set, in accordance with school policy.
- To motivate and support students to complete set work when covering a lesson, collecting work after the lesson and returning it to the appropriate teacher.
- To monitor student engagement and progress throughout lessons and report back to the class teacher.
- To manage the behaviour of students whilst they are undertaking set work to ensure a safe and purposeful environment.
- To report back as appropriate on the behaviour of students during classes, and any issues that arise.
- To respond to any questions from students on set work, where Teaching and Learning Facilitators ability allows, and/or to refer students to discuss matters with their class teacher.
- To deal with any immediate problems or emergencies according to the school's policies and procedures.
- To complete tutor group register at set registration times.
- To support the wider school team with the preparation and organisation of learning resources.
- Minimum 5 GCSEs at Grade C or above (including English and Maths) or equivalent.
- Relevant Level 2/3 qualifications (e.g. HLTA status or NNEB).
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Competence with IT tools and ability to analyse and present data.
- Experience working in a similar role within education.
- Proven organisational skills with the ability to prioritise and plan depending on workload.
