Castle Phoenix Trust is seeking a Site Services Apprentice. The salary ranges from Β£10.00 to Β£12.21 per hour, with age-related apprentice rates applying for the first year, rising to the National Living Wage in the second year. The role requires 37 hours of work per week, all year round, with main hours being Monday to Thursday from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm and Friday from 8:00 am to 3:30 pm. Flexibility is required to cover SSO shift patterns as needed, sometimes at short notice, including some split shifts.
This role is varied and involves:
- Providing a quick response to general maintenance calls.
- Manual handling and lifting.
- Janitorial, monitoring, and security duties.
The successful candidate will assist the Site Services Teams with day-to-day routine maintenance, security of buildings and grounds, cleaning duties, and ensuring the smooth running of school sites across Coventry and Warwickshire. Driving between sites is required, so a driving licence, personal vehicle, and appropriate insurance are necessary. Some mini-bus driving may be required, depending on age and length of time holding the driving licence.
Responsibilities include:
- Ensuring the security of buildings and grounds, including routine and non-routine opening of premises and setting of alarms.
- Keeping sites free of litter and rubbish.
- Managing repairs and maintenance outside of this job description.
- Supporting the operation of the heating plant under supervision.
- Being responsible for minor repair and maintenance work with training.
- Undertaking limited grounds maintenance duties.
- Monitoring fire safety and carrying out fire alarm testing.
- Cleaning areas as required.
- Carrying out procedures in emergencies and assisting with general enquiries.
- Working during school holidays as defined by the Head of Estates.
- Keeping paths and walkways free of snow and ice.
- Carrying out any other relevant duties as requested.
