Use data to enable great education and help our school communities thrive. We’re looking for an experienced, detail‑driven Data Manager (Maternity Cover) to join Cabot Learning Federation’s Central Data Team, reporting to the Senior Data Manager and working as part of a Cluster Data Team. This role will be physically based at Hanham Wood Academy, while supporting and covering all academies within the assigned cluster alongside the Data Team.
The postholder will provide expertise across all areas of the Management Information System (Bromcom) and key data tasks, working collaboratively as part of a team and independently where required. This role is crucial to ensuring the accuracy, integrity, and effective use of student and performance data across our schools, enabling leaders, teachers, and professional services to make well‑informed decisions that improve outcomes for children and young people.
Working closely with the Senior Data Manager, Trust Data colleagues, academy leaders, and teaching staff, you’ll lead core data processes throughout the academic year and support colleagues to use our MIS confidently and effectively. From statutory returns and safeguarding data integrity to reporting, analysis, and training, your work will underpin high‑quality educational delivery across the Trust.
This is a trust‑wide, varied maternity cover role, offering the opportunity to apply specialist data expertise within a collaborative, values‑driven multi‑academy trust.
About the role
- Work as part of the Cluster Data Team, managing and maintaining accurate, secure, and compliant student data across all academies within the cluster.
- Provide expert oversight and administration of the Trust’s MIS (particularly Bromcom), ensuring optimal configuration, permissions, and effective use.
- Lead on key academic year processes, including start‑of‑year, end‑of‑year, transitions, timetabling, and statutory census submissions, meeting all required deadlines.
- Support academy leaders and teaching staff by providing timely, accurate data to inform attainment tracking, progress monitoring, and strategic decision‑making.
- Deliver training, guidance, user documentation, and day‑to‑day support to colleagues to improve confidence and consistency in data systems and processes.
- Ensure full compliance with GDPR, data protection legislation, retention schedules, FOI/SAR requirements, and Trust policies.
- Work collaboratively with Data Managers across the wider Data Team to share best practice and contribute to continuous improvement of Trust‑wide data systems and processes.
About you
- Experience in data management or office‑based administration, ideally within an educational environment, with responsibility for organising, maintaining, and developing data systems, or ability to learn new processes quickly.
- Knowledge of performance measures, KPIs, qualification frameworks, and the structure of the academic year.
- Experience using Management Information Systems, particularly Bromcom, alongside Excel skills.
- Exceptional attention to detail and a sustained commitment to data accuracy and quality.
- The ability to work with sensitive and confidential information with professionalism, discretion, and integrity.
- Strong organisational and time‑management skills, able to manage competing priorities and respond effectively to changing demands.
- Confident communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build effective working relationships across academies and professional services teams.
- Good literacy and numeracy, including GCSE English and Maths (or equivalent), and vocational experience equivalent to NVQ Level 4.
Why join CLF’s Central Data Team?
- Be part of an experienced, supportive central data function delivering high‑quality services across the Trust.
- Work within a cluster model, combining strong local relationships with trust‑wide collaboration.
- Gain exposure to a wide range of data responsibilities, including MIS leadership, statutory reporting, analysis, training, and process improvement.
- Benefit from working within a large, established multi‑academy trust, supporting academies from early years through to post‑16.
