We are looking for an enthusiastic and experienced Early Years Teaching Assistants (Level 2) who are highly committed about supporting young children to learn and enjoy their education. We have 4 vacancies for this Early Years role, which will work across Nursery (2-3 year old provision) and Preschool (3-4 year old provision).Airfield Primary Academy is a new and growing school serving the Haywood Village community in Weston-super-Mare. Having welcomed our first Reception children in September 2026, we are continuing to develop our Early Years provision, including our nursery and preschool. This provides a fantastic opportunity to join us at an exciting stage in the academy’s journey and play a part in creating a safe, stimulating and inclusive environment where every child is supported to thrive.As an Early Years Teaching Assistant Level 2, you will support the educational, personal and social development of children under the direction and guidance of teachers and other colleagues. Working with children on a one-to-one basis and in small groups, you will use your Early Years knowledge and experience to support children in reaching developmental milestones, engaging positively with their learning and achieving their individual goals.You will contribute to the observation, assessment and recording of children’s progress, help identify where additional support or intervention may be needed, and adapt your approach to respond to individual needs. You will also play an important role in supporting children with SEND, additional needs and disabilities, promoting positive behaviour and ensuring all children are fully included within the provision.**About you**You will have:An Early Years Educator / Teaching Assistant Level 2 qualification and/or equivalent qualification, alongside good literacy and numeracy skills.Experience of working within an Early Years setting, with a good understanding of children’s learning and development and the barriers that may affect their progress.The ability to build positive relationships with children and support them effectively one-to-one and in groups, adapting your approach to meet their individual needs.Good planning and organisational skills, with experience of producing learning materials, delivering activities and contributing to the monitoring, assessment and recording of children’s progress.Strong communication and interpersonal skills, including empathy and active listening, with the ability to work effectively with children, parents and carers, colleagues and other professionals.The ability to work inclusively with all children, including those with SEND, additional needs and disabilities, and an understanding of positive behaviour management strategies.A good understanding of safeguarding requirements and a commitment to promoting the safety and wellbeing of children and young people.A caring, patient, flexible and reliable approach, with the resilience to remain calm in challenging situations and respond sensitively to the needs of children and their families.A commitment to inclusion, equality and continuous professional development, with a willingness to learn and continually improve your practiceApplicants are advised to refer to the full requirements of the role in the attached job description and person specification, prior to submitting an application.**About Airfield Primary Academy:**Airfield Primary Academy is a new primary school that opened in September 2026 on the former Weston Airfield site in Haywood Village, Weston-Super-Mare.
