This role is based on-site in Dalbeattie, with operating hours typically from 9.00 to 17.30.

Job Overview: We are looking for an experienced and dedicated Purchasing Manager to report to the Head of Purchasing and lead procurement across refurbished IT stock and sales order fulfilment operations within the purchasing function, with direct responsibility for managing and developing a section of the team. Following the promotion of the current Purchasing Manager to Head of Purchasing, the function has been restructured into two areas, creating this new Section Manager role. Reporting into the Head of Purchasing, this position will lead one area of the function, with responsibility for the timely sourcing, purchasing, and supply of refurbished IT equipment, ensuring efficient processing and seamless customer fulfilment.

You will manage the end-to-end colleague lifecycle for your section of the purchasing team, including resource planning, day-to-day leadership, performance management and reviews, development and succession planning, and fostering a positive, accountable, high-performing culture.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement purchasing strategies that support organisational objectives
  • Source, evaluate, and select suppliers based on quality, cost, and reliability
  • Maintain optimal stock levels to avoid production stoppages or excess inventory
  • Monitor lead times and shipping to ensure smooth and efficient operations
  • Negotiate contracts, pricing, and terms with vendors
  • Prepare and manage procurement budgets and cost reports
  • Work closely with sales, products, planning, and warehouse teams to align operations
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives related to operational flow
  • Monitor supplier performance and manage supplier relationships
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and relevant regulations
  • Work closely with internal stakeholders to understand purchasing requirements
  • Identify cost-saving opportunities and drive value for money
  • Maintain accurate procurement records and reporting
  • Manage shipping returns
