They are seeking an experienced Principal Arboricultural Consultant to lead and inspire their arboricultural team. The Role
As Principal Arboricultural Consultant, you'll be at the helm of our client's arboricultural department, driving growth, innovation, and excellence. You'll manage a small team of consultants, oversee project delivery, and engage directly with clients, ensuring the highest quality of service and technical output. This role combines technical delivery with strategic leadership, offering plenty of autonomy and the chance to make a real impact in a well-respected, people-focused business.

Key Responsibilities
Technical:
- Lead and deliver BS5837:2012 and Tree Risk Management surveys.
- Produce Arboricultural Impact Assessments and Method Statements.
- Manage complex tree assessments and reporting up to Proof of Evidence standard.
- Oversee project delivery, from pricing, scoping, and planning through to completion.
- Coordinate with clients, local authorities, and planning teams.
- Work closely with ecology and landscape teams to deliver integrated solutions.
Managerial:
- Lead, mentor, and support the arboricultural team.
- Drive business growth and profitability in line with the company strategy.
- Develop and deliver a robust arboricultural business plan.
- Support tenders, quotations, and marketing initiatives.
- Champion a culture of continuous improvement and professional development.
About You

- Significant arboricultural consultancy experience.
- A thorough understanding of BS5837, planning law, tree biology and risk management.
- Proven leadership and project management skills.
- A client-focused, solutions-driven mindset.
- A collaborative, coaching approach to team management.
- Excellent communication, report writing, and organisational skills.
- Confidence in pricing, scoping, and delivering complex projects.
- Experience with appeals and public inquiries (desirable).
Qualifications & Skills:
- Level 4 or higher arboricultural qualification (e.g. Level 6 diploma or equivalent).
- LANTRA PTI and QTRA or similar desirable.
- Strong technical knowledge of arboriculture, planning, and development.
- Experience using GIS and tree survey software is advantageous.
- Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle.
