The Communications & PR Manager (Earned) is responsible for developing and executing strategic communications and PR campaigns to enhance the brand’s visibility, shaping its reputation and generating positive media coverage across all earned media channels. By strategically managing media relations, partnerships, and campaigns, this role directly contributes to building brand equity, supporting business goals, and positioning the brand as an industry leader. The manager will also ensure that all communications are in line with the company’s strategic priorities, including philanthropy, diversity and inclusion, sustainability, and innovation.
WHAT THIS ROLE DOES:
- Strategic Communications
- Develop and implement earned media strategies to support product launches, brand storytelling, and key campaigns across multiple channels.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with top-tier media, influencers, and industry leaders to secure editorial placements and coverage.
- Lead crisis management communications, in coordination with Corporate and Global Communications, ensuring consistent messaging and transparency.
- Oversee the creation of media and press materials, including press releases, statements, and editorial pitches, ensuring alignment with brand voice and strategic messaging.
- Reacting to and implementing plans for rising trends quickly, while anticipating future trends to incorporate into strategic plans.
- Lead the negotiations with influencers and press that are leveraged in paid media.
- Media Relations & Partnerships
- Act as the brand’s spokesperson and main contact for media inquiries, securing interviews and features that elevate brand presence and authority.
- Lead media outreach efforts to build lasting relationships with journalists, editors, and influencers, ensuring consistent brand exposure.
- Manage partnerships with key influencers, thought leaders, and content creators to amplify the brand’s messaging and drive organic conversation, while also identifying new partnerships.
- Monitor media coverage, evaluating impact, sentiment, and opportunities for further amplification.
- Campaign Management & Reporting
- Oversee the execution of PR campaigns, ensuring alignment with broader marketing and consumer engagement strategies.
- Use PR measurement tools (e.g., Tribe Dynamics, Launch Metrics) to track campaign performance, analyse earned media value (EMV), and report on key KPIs.
- Compile and distribute regular reports on PR activity to senior stakeholders, highlighting coverage, trends, and opportunities for optimisation.
- Brand & Corporate Social Responsibility
- Lead initiatives around corporate responsibility, including charity partnerships and social responsibility programmes, ensuring visibility through earned media.
- Support the execution of brand initiatives that focus on diversity and inclusion, sustainability, and social missions.
WHAT YOU WILL NEED TO BE SUCCESSFUL IN THIS ROLE:
- Multiple years experience in PR, media relations, communications and social media, preferably within the beauty, fashion, or luxury sectors.
- University degree in Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, or a related field is preferred.
- Strong understanding of digital media, influencer marketing, and earned media strategies.
- Proven ability to build and maintain relationships with key media, influencers, and industry stakeholders.
- An understanding of the social media different platforms, the role they play and the behaviour of the consumer and influencers interacting with them.
- Proven track record of identifying rising trends and influencer talent quickly.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to craft compelling press materials and manage high-level communication strategies.
- Solid experience in crisis communications and the ability to manage sensitive issues with professionalism and tact.
- Ability to track and measure PR performance, using tools such as Tribe Dynamics, Google Analytics, and media tracking software.
- Highly organised with exceptional attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Strategic thinker with the ability to adapt communications strategies to meet evolving business needs and market dynamics.
