Essity Health and Medical Solutions North America is currently seeking a Safety Manager for our Manchester, CT Location. As part of the site leadership team (SLT), this critical position will be responsible for:

  • Promoting a proactive safety culture that engages all employees
  • Implementing programs that ensure sustainable compliance to applicable regulations and Essity requirements
  • Driving risk reduction and hazard elimination through continuous improvement processes

What You Will Do

  • Lead the site-wide safety culture change by implementing Essity I Care Journey Steps
  • Establish safety goals, objectives and implementation plan with the SLT
  • Develop and update all safety policies, procedures, and training modules
  • Coordinate supervisory and employee safety training and record keeping
  • Lead the coordination of safety communications site-wide
  • Implement a management system that ensures compliance with applicable regulations
  • Coordinate and participate in the Union/Management Safety Committee meetings
  • Supervise activities of contract security guard services
  • Coordinate safety audits, incident, and accident investigations
  • Manage entry of safety data metrics in company database
  • Coordinate and support machine safety risk assessments, Job Safety Analysis, and pre-job work permit planning to reduce risks
  • Lead the contractor management program
  • Perform other essential responsibilities as deemed necessary

Who You Are

  • Bachelor's degree with a major in Occupational Safety or relevant program (preferred)
  • Five plus (5+) years safety management experience (preferred)
  • Ability to develop and implement safety programs
  • Ability to communicate verbally and in written form
  • Ability to motivate employees to work safely
  • Strong computer and training skills
  • Knowledge of OSHA regulations and workers compensation law

Compensation and Benefits:

  • Expected Compensation: Annual base salary of $100K - $145K + annual incentive bonus + benefits
  • Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors such as knowledge, skills, and experience.
