About the Role
As IDC Manager, you’ll play a key role in managing a team and project activities within our IDC at Skelmersdale, including overseeing onsite contractors.
At Essity, our IDC (International Distribution Centre) ensures the smooth flow of finished goods from production to customers, maintaining stock accuracy, operational efficiency, and strong coordination with transport and warehousing partners.
What You Will Do
As IDC Manager, you’ll be the driving force behind our warehouse operations at Skelmersdale. You’ll lead with purpose, ensuring smooth, safe, and efficient performance across every shift.
Your key responsibilities will include:
- Lead strategic warehouse projects – from consolidations to continuous improvement initiatives
- Champion compliance – uphold safety, quality, and environmental standards
- Drive operational excellence – collaborate with site leaders to embed best practices
- Own stock integrity – manage WMS (ideally SAP) to ensure 100% system-to-physical reconciliation
- Coach and empower your team – develop talent, manage performance, and build succession plans
- Be the bridge – act as the key link between management and warehouse staff, balancing business needs with team wellbeing
- Optimize daily operations – oversee pallet flow, stock levels, and resource usage
- Respond and resolve – lead incident management and disciplinary processes when needed
- Deliver results – monitor KPIs, identify savings, and push for continuous improvement
- Work with FLT service provider regards day to day repairs and also continuous improvement reviews
- Legal compliance – Act on Loler inspections (Zurich) in a timely manner
- Tender Management – FLT and waste solutions
- Audit compliance – Ensure IDC is audit ready
Who You Are
You’re a confident, hands-on people leader with a solid background in warehousing or distribution—ideally in a finished goods or FMCG environment. You know your way around warehouse management systems (SAP experience is a bonus) and have a sharp eye for stock control and performance metrics.
You thrive in fast-paced environments, communicate clearly, and lead with purpose. You’re not afraid to challenge the norm, drive change, and bring fresh ideas to the table. You know how to get the best out of your team—coaching, motivating, and building a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.
