We’re looking for a Shift Team Leader to join us at our Skelmersdale Mill, where you’ll play a key role in leading high-performing teams and driving a culture of safety, quality, and continuous improvement.

About the role

As a Shift Team Leader, you’ll provide frontline leadership to a multi-skilled team of operators and electrical/mechanical technicians in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. Reporting to the Senior Team Leader, you’ll take ownership of performance across your shift — ensuring high standards in safety, quality, efficiency, and delivery — while developing the capability and engagement of your team.

What you will do

  • Lead, coach and support your team to deliver safe, high-quality and efficient production
  • Drive performance through clear standards, continuous improvement and problem-solving
  • Develop team capability through structured training and skill development plans
  • Conduct regular 1:1s, providing feedback and supporting individual growth
  • Manage time, attendance and performance in a fair and consistent way
  • Foster a positive, inclusive and high-performing team culture
  • Identify and implement improvements using methodologies such as Lean, 5S and root cause analysis

Who you are

You’re a motivated and people-focused leader with the drive to grow and make an impact. You don’t necessarily need to have come from a traditional leadership path — what matters is your ability to lead, influence and develop others.

  • Experience in a manufacturing or similar fast-paced environment (e.g. FMCG)
  • Demonstrated leadership capability — whether through team leadership, projects or leading initiatives
  • A strong commitment to safety, quality and continuous improvement
  • Problem-solving skills and a proactive, forward-thinking mindset
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to engage and motivate others
  • Experience working in or contributing to change and improvement activities
